Eight Months

Another month down, and Ryan is as busy as ever. Here are some things about Ryan at 8 months:
  • He loves to sit and play with his box of toys, especially the books
  • He gets into crawling position, but ends up pushing himself backwards, just like Kyle used to. The other day he backed up from the couch over to the fireplace
  • He now has two bottom teeth, so his teething pain has subsided a little bit
  • He is back to sleeping through the night after a rough week with an ear infection. Just like Kyle, he is an early riser!
  • He loves to eat and is always grabbing for our food after he's eaten his own
  • He doesn't like to be left alone in a room for too long or he gets upset
  • He would love to be held all day

Splash Parties...and a case of the 'sickies'

Between the Saturdays of July 16th and 23rd, we went to two splash parties...and 75% of us got sick on the days in between!

Our Saturday fun started at the Orr's house. They had an "It's Hot" party for the extended softball family. This was a lot of fun with great food and conversation. It was nice to meet the guys (and families) that I hear the names of. Kyle was excited to reconnect with his buddies from our Frio trip. The other splash party was this past Saturday at Gavin's house. Kyle had fun playing with some of his buddies from school and a few new friends of Gavin's. It was nice chatting with other parents and enjoying the yummy food. Somewhere between those parties, we ended up at the doctor's office twice. Once on Monday afternoon for Ryan's ear infection (and subsequently my throat infection) and back again on Friday morning for Kyle's virus. Thankfully we were all feeling better by the weekend.

Since I didn't bring my camera to the Orr's, I have copied some that Kathleen took.

4th of July Events

We had a fun 4th of July this year. We started the day off with a parade in the neighborhood. We met at the elementary school where we got 4th of July temporary tattoos and watched the awards presentation for the best decorated bikes/wagons/strollers. After that we all proceeded through the neighborhood to the pool where we had ice cream sandwiches and popsicles. That night, Russ and Kyle biked to the bayou where they watched the fireworks display put on by Lakeside CC. Kyle really enjoyed watching the fireworks and hearing "the big boom".

Flashback Friday - Volume 22: Homework

2 weeks ago Kyle came home with his first homework assignment. His teacher told me that the children would be sent home with homework on Fridays. Here is Kyle tracing his shapes. Notice bear bear on his shoulder monitoring his progress.

Clapping

Ryan recently learned to clap, and he had lots of fun doing it last weekend. He claps every day, especially when he hears music. I love how you can hear his little claps, too. Here he is clapping on the 4th of July. (I also have a cute video, but I can't get them to upload on blogger).
