Getaway to Port "A"

Last week we took a 3-night getaway to Port Aransas with the boys. Their school was closed for inservice on Thursday and Friday, so we decided to head out to the beach as the summer draws to a close. We had a great time with beautiful weather and lots of fun in the sun. We were lucky enough to have the beach pretty much to ourselves on Thursday and Friday before the Labor Day crowds arrived on Saturday and Sunday. Kyle also learned how to fish on the trip. He chose his own Lightning McQueen fishing pole at Academy and he learned how to use it quite well. Russ also bought Kyle a Buzz Lightyear kite in Port A that we had fun flying. There were perfect kite-flying conditions, and Kyle had fun watching buzz soar through the air. Ryan enjoyed his first time to the beach...and even got a taste of sand. He got a little surprised whenever the tide would roll over him while sitting in the sand, but all in all he enjoyed himself. Ryan's ride

We have been having wonderful weather the past few days as a "cold front" has blown in, so we took advantage of the lovely weather and took a bike ride on Monday morning. Ryan took his first bike ride and really enjoyed it...so much so that he fell asleep! We stayed in the neighborhood since he is still a little young for riding the trail. While Ryan slept in the trailer, Kyle played on the church playground. It was so nice to get out in the fresh air without sweating! I look forward to many more rides as the weather turns nicer.

For Ryan's 9 month appointment, his stats are as follows:

Weight: 18 lbs. 12 oz. (25th%)
Height: 29 inches (75th%)

Long and lean just like Kyle!

Nine Months

...and 3 days.

At 9 months old, Ryan:

- Has 3 teeth. His top two teeth surrounding his 3rd tooth are taking forever to come in!
- Scoots on his bottom 360 degrees
- Still isn't crawling, but he can push backwards really well
- Generally has a happy position - he loves to be held and wants someone near him at all times
- Is eating table foods - some new favorites are Multigrain Cheerios, peas, corn, chicken, beef, and yogurt, of which he ate the entire container after he ate his full meal
- Claps, waves, and blows kisses
- Loves Kyle and giggles and smiles when he is near, even when being tackled to the ground by Kyle (I'm sure this is just the beginning of "brotherly love")
- Says dada, mama, baba, etc.
- Is a carbon copy of Kyle...has similar stats and has gotten several ear infections just like Kyle did at this age!
- Is getting curly hair like Kyle had...love it!
