Our own Super Bowl Party

For the Super Bowl this year, we decided to have our own party...just the 3 of us. We had the usual party snacks then grilled out some yummy turkey sausage. Kyle loved having cocktails and dug right in. We rooted for the underdog and they won! What a relaxing evening after the busy afternoon of attending two parties.

Flashback Friday - Volume 15: Wade's 1st Birthday

Today our nephew and godson, Wade, turns 2. In honor of his birthday, the flashback today is a picture from his 1st Birthday...Nanna and all her grandkids (pre-Nolan). Happy Birthday Wade!

Flashback Friday - Volume 14: Kyle and the little leprechaun

One year ago we had a visit from our Irish friend Stephen, whom I call the little leprechaun. Russ met Stephen while working at the Wood Group in Aberdeen. He is probably one of the funniest guys I have met. Congrats to Stephen and Brenda who will be married in September 2011.

New haircut

Today Russ and Kyle went to Great Clips for haircuts. This was Kyle's first time to go to a "salon". His previous two haircuts were done by Russ, but I decided it was time for Kyle to get some shape! He sat in my lap and did a lot better than we expected. He made a few outbursts, but we turned to check out dad getting his hair cut and that calmed him down. He also had a Dum Dum lollipop to distract him. When he was done, he kept saying "haircut" and smiling. We didn't take any pictures there, but here are some before and after pictures. As you can tell, his mane was getting pretty long and unruly! The best part is, we were able to keep some curls...check out the wave he has!

On New Year’s Day we had Kyle’s bestie Gavin and his parents over for drinks and dinner. Kyle was beginning to get bored just before Gavin’s arrival, but once he saw Gavin walk through the door, his whole demeanor changed. They both started squealing and jumping up and down. Kyle was grinning from ear to ear. They immediately went into the den to play with toys, and of course they wanted the same truck. After dinner the boys played in the bath together and got ready for bed before Gavin had to head home. It was a fun night and a great way to ring in the new year.

10 Resolutions for 2010

For the new year and new decade, there are 10 things (some more serious than the other) that I resolve to do in 2010:

1. Make a new meal each week
2. Lose "those last 5 lbs."
3. Go to bed earlier
4. Clean the house more
5. Work less, play more
6. Read more books
7. Be more patient
8. Exercise more
9. Play with Kyle on the floor more
10. Read the magazines I'm behind on
